Topics

  • Russia invades Ukraine while the world watches
    • The US, EU, and NATO nations put the screws to Putin and their cronies by crushing sanctions; I’m talking about snatching their mansions, yachts, and money in America and worldwide.
    • Chancellor Scholz of Germany reversed course and sent weapons to Ukraine; Germany hasn’t sent weapons to a warzone since WWII; this is huge. Five hundred surface-to-air missiles and 1000 anti-tank weapons.
    • 100,000 Germans protest Putin’s war
    • China and the Taliban denounce Putin’s war.
    • Russian citizens protest Putin’s war in red square, and of course, they are being arrested.
    • TFG and our former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo support Putin’s invasion in a bizarre display of sycophancy.
    • Yall know I have all the tea on TFG and Russia about showing that this war, TFG’s actions before Russia put him in office, and while he held power are all connected. I may have to do a bonus show to connect the dots with my Carrie (from Homeland) Murder board
  • Bloomberg News cites Michigan as having the #1 economy in the country!
  • Michigan still has a COVID-19 positivity rate of 8.13%, well above the 3-5% suggested to relax safety measures. Don’t let up. COVID-19 is not over. Please be vigilant. Hopefully, you live in a state that still accurately reports the COVID-19 numbers.
  • Ahmaud Aubery’s killers were found guilty of federal hate crimes. This was the first federal hate-crime conviction in Georgia’s history. That’s just astounding
  • Three former officers who stood by while their brother in blue murdered George Floyd has been convicted of violating George Floyd’s civil rights.
  • Mississippi was the first to harm trans kids with a trans sports ban law because sports are far more important than the lives of those actual kids playing sports.
  • There are bills banning any discussion LGBTQIA+families and kids. It’s been dubbed the  Don’t Say, Gay Bill. It just passed in Florida. It’s hateful and exclusionary and trying to force us back into the closet. Clothes belong in closets, not people. Our families should be discussed and celebrated like other families. Heteronormativity is not the reality for many families.
  • Texas governor signed a hateful executive order that would force school teachers, counselors, and doctors to out LGBTQIA children even if it could cause them harm, physical violence, or be thrown out of their homes. The order tries to criminalize any gender-affirming treatment as child abuse. This bill will cause more kids to die by suicide or become homeless. Using children as pawns in their new cultural war is a new low. However, this is all part of white supremacy eugenics; you rid society of the so-called defective ones and make the reset in your white heteronormative image. They are trying to take us back to the pre-stonewall age, and NOT going to happen.
  • The crazy thing is that most TFG’s voters don’t even agree with these anti-trans laws; across ten swing states, they found that 60% of his voters thought trans people should be able to live openly, freely, and in peace.

Our book of the week

What’s Good?

The City of Detroit held its first meeting on the Reparations task force. Yes, Detroit voted for reparations, and now we are forming a task force to determine how we go about instituting reparations in our city.

For me, it was seeing the Ukrainian citizen jokingly asking if he could tow the Russian tank and troops back to Russia that was the calm moment in this shit storm of a week, honestly.

Inspiration for the week

Ellyn:

What inspired me this week were two things, one, President Biden kept his campaign promise and nominated the first Black woman Judge Katanji Brown Jackson, to the Supreme Court of the United States.

The second thing to inspire me was the leadership of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. When we told him that we had an envoy waiting to get him out of Kyiv, he said, “I need ammunition, not a ride.” To see the leader he has become for his nation. Standing tall, guiding on the ground, remaining in his capital, and pushing back Putin’s troops with his army and the people of Ukraine, it is honestly breathtaking. To see them protect their Country and their capital is a thing of beauty that I am grateful to be able to witness.

Kiba:

My inspiration came from my oracle cards today. I pulled brutal honesty, and it said The mother cautions you against continuing to deny any unwanted reality in your life and your uncomfortable feelings About it. It is not okay to ignore what does not authentically fit you or self-compromise or incongruency. it just resonated with me
